The single latch in the ND is a vast improvement over the double latch in NA and NB. However, pretty often, when the soft top is pulled forward the latch hits directly the receiver instead of slipping underneath, where expected. As a result it hits on the receiver powdercoating potentially compromising both coatings.
The Latch protector is nothing is a durable transparent thick polyurethane self adhesive tape cut to the needed size to resolve this issue permanently.
